The Peak

A trip to The Peak is a MUST. The tram ride is reminiscent of Beamish
Museum in the UK albeit Beamish does not have views of bougainvillea and hibiscus in full bloom. The view from the top is breathtaking and dwarfs the huge tower blocks below. Drove past what was once the family residence of sir Christ Patton - seems rather modest compared to the neighbours. - but the security is more obvious.

Man mo temple

The air was thick with smoke from the burning incense. Their faith teaches that the soul of their departed loved one is divided in to two parts at time of death. One part of the soul or spirit stays on earth with their loved ones and the 2nd part ascends. The local population in Kowloon light the incense and the smoke rises up to their departed friends and family with messages of love and respect

Sampan 'cruise'

This simple activity was the highlight of my stay in Kowloon. I took a trip over to hong long city and took a ride on a sampan out
Of Aberdeen fishing village. The fishing is not so good now due to over- fishing but not so long ago a baby born on a sampan would end his/her days on the same vessel. There is evidence there are some of the 'old-timers' hanging on to their way of life. Towering over aberdeen are some of the tallest and finest buildings in the world and each new one larger than their neighbour. The once largest HSBC is now dwarfed by interlopers.
